2019 Edition of The #AFFC Kicks off With Regional Audition in Lagos, Nigeria.

Guess what?! We have officially commenced the regional auditions of the African Freestyle Football Championship and we are so excited. Our debut audition held at Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos on the 22nd of June 2019 following a highly successful press conference on the 29th of May which heralded the auditions.

The event was hosted by popular street dancer Poco Lee and co-hosted by Dancehall Queen, Xtacy.

Over 150 male and female football freestylers competed on stage for the winning prizes of N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 in first, second and third place respectively across the male and female category.

Three-time Ghana freestyle football champion and Africa member of the World Freestyle Football Association, Joel Asare, presided as the Judge at the audition and was supported by Abbas and ex-Big Brother Nigeria Housemate, Kemen.

In the male category; Benjamin John Ebong, Larry Etuduvwun and Oni Taiwo emerged winners in the first, second and third place respectively, while in the female category Adeshina Damilola, Unamba Augustina and Olaobi Mariam emerged winners in the first second and third place respectively.

Select freestyles also entered into the PANNA competition, a game of two players who try to out-dribble themselves while also trying to score 3 goals in the opponent’s post. The game which was introduced in this year’s edition had 16 participants with Oscar Ifeanyi emerging winner.

Our wonderful guests were also entertained with a competition where freestylers of all ages displayed their talent by fusing music, dance and football on the stage alongside Poco Lee, in addition to some exciting performances by fast-rising artistes like Brainee and Raybekah.

Auditions continue in 3 other states across Nigeria namely: Brownhill Event Centre, Warri - on the 30th of June, Cubana Lounge, Owerri on July 6th and Central Park Wuse Abuja on July 13th. 2019.

Shortlisted participants who emerge from the qualifying rounds will contest at the finals which will hold on the 14th and 15th September 2019, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
