Benjamin John Emerges Winner of The 2019 Nigerian Freestyle Football Championship.
The Balmoral Convention centre was today filled to capacity as Feet 'N' Tricks, organisers of the biggest Freestyle Football tournament in Africa successfully hosted the 2019 National Freestyle Football Championship.
The event which was anchored by popular street dancer Poco Lee, and co-anchored by the superstar hypeman, Shody alongside beauty entrepreneur Ifuennada; had male and female football freestylers who qualified from the regionals auditions which held in Lagos, Owerri, Warri and Abuja this year; compete fiercely for the winning prize of N500,000 Naira, an all expense paid trip to the Red Bull World event in Miami, and a furniture set from Lifemate Nigeria.
This year's theme - “Free Your Style” was unarguably expressed by the participants with their dazzling freestyle skills while the dancers brilliantly shook it off, entertaining guests with their fascinating steps while the DJ continuously thrilled with exciting music.
Gracing the occasion were the World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) president, Dan Wood, our 2019 ambassadors; John Fashanu, Victor Ikepba, King Tonto Dikeh, Williams Uchemba, amongst many others.
European, current and 4 times Double Routine Super Ball World’s Champion, Erlend Fagerli, Guinness World Record holder, Laura Biondo, Asian championship winner, Philip Warren Gertsson presided as the judges for the championship.
Also present were sponsors and partners including: Supersport, Heritage Bank, Redbull and Diageo among others.
In the male category;
Benjamin John, Austin Abaribote, Blessing Ezeakubudu emerged in the first, second and third place respectively
In the female category, we had; Augustina Unamba, Blessing Faith, Evelyn Okafor in the first second and third place respectively.
Commenting on his win, the newly crowned title holder for this year thanked the organisers of the event saying, "This is a very auspicious moment for me, I am overwhelmed and grateful for the opportunity to express my talent. I look forward to using this platform to grow better and place Nigeria at the forefront of freestyle football."
The female winner in her speech said, "Freestyle Football is not common to Females and I'm highly honoured to be the National Champion."
Larry Etuduvwun who beat all odds to emerge the Panna football winner expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity presented by Feet 'N' Tricks International saying it was a dream come true.
According to the Chairman, Feet ‘n’ Tricks, “Today’s event marks the beginning of yet another remarkable moment for the Feet ‘N' Tricks team, the WFFA, our freestylers and sponsors. Having done this since 2017, the turn out this year is an affirmation on the significant level of awareness and appreciation freestyle football has earned in Nigeria and Africa.”
Guests were also entertained with exciting games, face painting, dance competitions, giveaways and musical performances from Raybekah and Joeboy.
The Continental Championship will hold on the 15th of September at the same Balmoral Convention Center, Lagos.
